Having moved in to Onslow Court in 2014, this Art Deco block has been externally refurbished over the last five years. It now enhances the East Worthing seafront as was intended more than eighty years ago, when the luxury apartments first became available.
A simple walk along the attractive Worthing Promenade soon reveals several other residential blocks but beware, as some are much more twenty first century than it might appear!
There are a couple of notable buildings which are accessible to the public and worth visiting:
Following a devastating fire in 1933, the pier reopened in its current Streamline Moderne style two years later.
The Grade II listed structure was named Pier of the Year in 2019.
The original cinema dates back to 1914 but it opened as a theatre after restyling in 1935.
Many interesting photographs of past performances adorn the walls and a visit to Fraser’s Bar is a must.
For a treat, you might also consider travelling a few miles east to visit Brighton Airport where you may take refreshments in the fabulous terminal building.
It would be great to hear which is your favourite Art Deco building in Worthing.
